New Years Resolution for 2019

I promised my self to not make any New Years resolutions for 2019 after I failed to achieve ones from 2018. But here I am again writing on the last day of 2018 about things I want to achieve in 2019 in the hope that I just might in the “New year, new me” spirit.

I’m not complaining but 2018 was a great year and I did achieve other things that weren’t even on my list. People say the older you get the wiser you get. I did turn 29 this year which is 1 year closer to the big number 30 hence my outlook on life has also changed as I won’t be a 20 something soon.

Eat healthy + Staying active

One of my goals for 2018 that i’d like to carry forward is Eating healthy and Staying active. I won’t say I “Failed” to achieve this but I do want to work harder on this one next year. Shams and I try to incorporate lots of vegetables during the work week for dinner and only leave meats for the weekend and I try to stick to non-fast-food for lunch. It’s not perfect but its still something but when it comes to working out I failed terribly. I started with my Classpass subscription earlier this year as I really enjoy taking different activities to keep it interesting. It was all good until October when we took our Euro trip and after that, it all went downhill.

Once you are out of routine it’s hard to get back into it. But then again its a new year and hopefully a new me and I will try harder to work on it in 2019.

Have my shit figured

Did I mention I’m 29? There are days when I feel so behind when I see people my age been in the workforce for a good 5-6 years and have their shit figured out. I moved to Canada last year so its technically only my 2nd year here and that put me behind a little. In order to find a job, I had to go to school here that put a year of mine on hold. I only started working full time beginning of this year and started to feel a little more in control of my life. I do like to believe everyone has a different way of doing things. In 2019 I’d like to have a little more control of my life, have a concrete plan for the next 5 years. Having said that life is unpredictable but I’d still like to work towards it

Travel more

2018 was a great year for us in terms of Travelling, the second half of the year more so than the first half as I was still very new at my current job. We did end up visiting 12 cities in 12 months around the world. We have bigger travel plans in 2019 if all goes as planned (fingers crossed).

Get out of my comfort zone

Again, I like to think I succeeded in doing so in 2018. This wasn’t even on my list last year but Shams and I did do a lot of things out of our comfort zone and don’t regret it at all. Sometimes you and your partner can get so occupied in your own routines that its hard to look outside. That’s when you should be doing something out of your routine. For us, 2018 was a very active year that included lots of hikes, water sports and sports in general. So far, I have no plans for what I’d like to do in 2019 but hopefully, I’ll get on it sooner than later.

What are your plans for 2019?
